Second Act: Quarterly Update & Year in Review
Happy Holidays, Second Act Community!
We hope this message finds you well! 2023 has been an incredible year of growth and transformation for Second Act, and we're thrilled to share some exciting updates regarding the future of our team and organization.
Mentorship Impact
Throughout 2023, we’ve served 17 mentees coming from incredible professional and pre-professional backgrounds:
We have facilitated over 30+ sessions for these mentees throughout this period, a significant increase from our prior year. Thank you so much to all of our dedicated mentors who have volunteered their time and effort to make this happen. Nicely done, team!
Welcoming our Newest Mentors
In our last quarter of the year, we have also welcomed some incredible new mentors to our program including:
Quinn Wharton | Artist, Creator, and Filmmaker
Camila Vicioso | MD Candidate, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Sarah Jannsen | Product Manager, Gaynor Minden
Victoria Wagner | Senior Specialist FP&A, Merck
Theresa Murray | Flight Attendant
Claire Ashcraft | Interior Designer, Kempt Studio
Caitlin Sloan | Founder, The Brainy Ballerina
We also want to introduce Veronica Greydak, who is serving as Second Act’s newest Mentorship Program Coordinator. We are thrilled to have her on the team!

Legal Incorporation Status
We are pleased to announce that our organization has successfully completed the process of incorporation. This milestone not only solidifies our legal standing but also reflects our commitment to establishing a robust and credible foundation for our operations.
A huge shoutout to our Director of Communications, Emma Vincent, for incorporating us!
501(c)(3) Status
We are pursuing strategic growth initiatives to support our organization as we continue to grow. One of these initiatives is obtaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. 501(c)(3) status gives non-profit organizations more favorable tax treatment, including exemption from federal income taxes and the ability to receive tax-deductible charitable donations. This status will strengthen our ability to serve our community and open up new partnerships, grants, and event opportunities.
Achieving nonprofit status is a significant step for Second Act, and we anticipate completing the process within the next few months. This status will provide us with the framework to better serve our community and empower us to make an even more meaningful positive impact.
If you have any expertise in the nonprofit sector or can offer guidance, we welcome your input and collaboration. If you have any questions regarding 501(c)(3) status, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Strategy & Operations, Angie Sheehan.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes to ensure your bio on our website is up to date. If not, please send your most updated bio and headshot to [email protected]
Thank you to our new mentors and those who have recently sent in updated bios and headshots. We will be updating our website in the new year.
It has been such a pleasure working with all of you and getting to know you throughout 2023. Take some time to wind down, reflect, and recharge for an amazing 2024. Looking forward to all the amazing things we will continue to do next year!
Sincerely,
Erika Pugh
